22 Mar Do you employ apprentices under the age of 25?
If you employ apprentices under the age of 25, from the 1st April 2016 you will no longer need to make employer National Insurance Contributions as long as they do not earn over the Upper Earnings Limit (UEL) which is currently £815 per week.
The idea is to offer young people an alternative to university, help reduce youth unemployment and develop skills in the workplace and also encourage businesses to invest in young people.
Providing we know you have an apprentice on your books, our systems will identify them when submitting to HMRC and automatically reduce your contributions for that staff member.
